Fish Road Trip

Hello everybody I am going to Pennsylvania on Saturday for a graduation party and I was wondering if I bought fish before 5 PM which is the time of the party would they be able to survive? I would put them in a cooler and ask any store whether they have breather bags. Also I would be at the party for a few hours. Just wanted to know if I would be able to do this if I can't I will not do it. Thank you.

How long is the trip home? I mean I don't really think it will be to bad seeing fish get shipped all the time atleast in ur case they probably would be treated better as a package.. I'm not 100% sure I'm sure someone else willcomment

When i go out of town, i just ask that my fish be put in koi bags with as much air is possible. Keep them at acceptable temps and you should be okay..

Your fish should be fine, most store use oxygen to fill the bag but when you get home open the bag and float it.

Unless you get into really big fish they will be fine for 6-12 hours at least. They are shipped for days. If you are going to be in really hot temperatures or have to leave them in a hot car, remember that the larger the amount of water, the longer it will take to heat. If it might be a problem, take a large plastic bag, put the shop bag inside the large bag in a cooler and fill the large bag with water and tie it shut. The cooler will give mechanical protection and make it dark. The large bag of water will make the temp steady and the fish are fine in the shop bag without having to deal with numerous water changes.

Most likely not any problems but I like to haul fish without wondering how they are doing. And I sure don't want a bucket sloshing around or tipping over!

I think your main problem is going to be heat. Can you store fish at someone's house?

Just keep it below 80f
When shipping fish most time people use 2-3 days.
Fish get box for 2-3 days. During summer time those usps truck get hot.
