Nope. Totally inoffensive fish. Okay, yeah, the males will display to each other and mack-battle, but that is cool behavior that you won't want to miss out on. It's pretty fun to watch.

Black and Red Phantom Males do the most awesome fin flaring mock battles of any tetra species. Reds will go scooting around the tank at the most absurd angles to each other. I've seen them nearly standing on their nose and laid over at 90 degrees. A visting friend though there was something wrong with them.

Starting small, keeping it simple..(?)
85 gallon stock tank, "pond"
5g low-tech Java Fern jungle.
2.5g +1.2g satellite stream-clay crypt and Fern tank.
20 GallonH Streamsoil dirt tank
Pendant-hooded, LED A19 bulb lighting.

They seem very shy though.. Mine hide in the plants and come out only when its feeding time.. But they are pretty awesome looking over the green of a planted tank.

Nice fish, they are peaceful, good tank mates for a community, planted tank, or a species tank.
