Fin Rot in planted 20 gallon

Removed fish to 10G QT treated with Maraplus.

Cranked up heat to 88 in now-empty 20G, hoping to kill the bug.

Is that all I can do? Keep the fish out so it doesn't have a host and let the higher heat accelerate it's demise?

Don't want to salt the plants nor do I want to expose the bio-sys to antibiotic.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

The longer I'm involved in this hobby the more & more I'm convinced that Bio-Type species tanks are the way to go. Plants and fish/inverts live together in nature for a reason. I find the less I try to fight nature the better my tanks look.

Fin rot is caused by poor water quality and/or bacteria, which thrive in warm temps, so making the tank warmer is probably not the way to go.

What are your water parameters?

Haven't had a chance to check. Actually, don't know where I put my API test kit. Ugh!
