What's goin on with my angel?

Just noticed this morning, his/her "lips" are deteriorated slightly like he could have crashed into something, broke it, and I am now noticing.

That's the messed up angel, here is a pic for side by side.

Anybody have any suggestions?

try and get a closer look at it with a flashlight and a magnifying glass. Might tell you more.

Hmmm does he seem to be hunting / eating ok? When viewed from the front does the rest of his face appear normal width-wise? From the pic, it looks like the rest of his face is fine just the from of his "lips" are missing. Kind of baffling if it just suddenly showed up out of the blue. Otherwise he appears in good shape, not skinny. Good luck. I'm interested in what others think on this one.

In the 4th pic in this post it shows 4 angles, it appears the 2 on the right are the same fish shown above. The afflicted fish appears to be the second from the right. In that pic his face doesn't look right to me either. Just for comparison maybe you can see more clearly in the original pic. Do you have any other pics of this fish for comparison, possibly?

If thats the case I would bet on previous bout of mouth fungus. Looking at your pics it appears that there is no white fuzz or anything on his mouth now so I would assume it was cured. The damage to his lips is just cosmetic and if you look closely at the lip area you will see the scar tissue. If nothing else present i would just let it go and see if you can get 2 to pair up for breeding. Hey he might get lucky, some ladies think scars are sexy. lol

Lmao, thx, that's why I got 4 was for a hopeful pair. That makes sense to me, there is nothing but scar tissue on the mouth. Thanks for the feedback, love this forum!
