Just bought a gold mickey platy and a sunburst wag platy for our 10g. The golden is a female and most definitely pregnant, can anyone tell me roughly how far along she is and when shell probably give birth, so i can move her to our breeder tank before she pops?
Probably about 3-4 weeks, give or take. When she is ready to give birth, you defiantly know. She will look like a little balloon, unless this is her first time.
she definitely has all the signs of giving birth soon. her anal cavity is opened slightly, shes squaring, her dorsal ridge is taking on the D shape. I dont want to move her and cause stress so ill just leave her in this tank and put the sponge on that filter and see what happens. if they dont make it, they spawn faster then rabbits lol.
I would move her to the breeder now so she is not stressed out when it gets closer to that time. Once the fry are born pull her out of the tank or she will eat the fry
I'm actually just going to leave her in the 10 gallon and let nature run its course. We have plenty of plants and a sponge filter so well see if anyone survives lol. I just don't want to stress her unneededly.
