Most plants should be okay with those temperatures. My tanks sometimes get to that temperature in the summer and the plants do fine.

www.aquariumplants.com has a section of warm water plants with a fair amount of variety, Java ferns & Mosses, Some Crypts, Swords, Crinium, Tiger Lotus, Green Temple, and a few more.

Some of my plants have problem is the warmer summer temps in my tank at 80 to 82 degrees.

What will happen if they are in that kind of temperature in the long term?

*cough* Mine are at 80.. *cough* That said I would listen to what Discus Paul has to say, he is giving you some great advice! I definitely wouldn't go any lower than 80.

However I have seen discus thrive in 78 degree water. But it's a risk.

Not meaning to put down hobbyists who keep discus @ temps of 78 to 80F.
Apparently many do.
However, at those temps, discus' appetites do decline to an important extent, and over time, they tend to undergo stress. Many will eventually fall victim to a weakened immune system, sicken & perish.
I believe it was H. Axelrod, noted discus expert, who ran long term studies on discus behavior at various temps, and concluded that keeping discus @ 79 F or less would prove fatal over time.
