I just fed some pellet fish food to King, my betta. Had to get a couple pellets over to him as they were floating away and he didn't see them. Anyway, my fingers were wet from doing that, so I grabbed a few more pellets, and stuck my finger on top of the water, to my amazement he ate the pellets off my finger. I was so happy when I saw that he did this. I am hoping that I can get him to eat from my hand, that would truly be amazing.
I hope I can keep his trust. Maybe I got his trust when I left his bubble nest alone. It did desinegrate(sp) on its own though. It is amazing that he trusts me. I am definitely doing some tank maintenance tonight. Have to get on a routine of doing that, so he can trust me more and I will probably be able to train him to do tricks.
One betta I used to have, Pinkie, would do this. If I had a bit of flake stuck to my wet fingertip, he would jump out of the water to take it off my finger.
Start putting you hand in the tank palm up and feed him like that for a few days he will quickly start swimming onto your hand as he associates it with food.
You should try this kit: https://www.r2fishschool.com/
I have it and it really works. Some fish are so much smarter than what people give them credit for.
Anyway, congrats on hand (finger) feeding!
