I have a question as far as planting the plants I'm hoping more experience members can offer some thoughts on. When I've done small planted bowls I added the miracle grow, added enough water to make it moist then planted my plants. Then I carefully spooned a layer of small gravel around the plants. This worked really well. But I've also read others who have put down all layers and then planted. Do people find one way better than the other? Or does it depend on the plant type and how far down into the substrate it needs to be planted? If you have your final cap on top do you tuck the plant deep enough to penetrate the bottom layer or just enough to hold it in place and then let the roots work their way down?
