Is my DIY reactor working right?

Hello,
I recently built a reactor out of a power head and a gravel vac. The power head I am using pumps 80 gph and my tube is about 7" long by 1 1/2" wide. It got it working great and all seemed well. I went to bed and in the morning I looked at my reactor and I have about 3/4" of the tube filled with CO2. The water from the power head was still shooting water and it was still mixing. So my question is... Is this normal? Do I need a bigger pump? I checked my CO2 levels and they did go way up in one night (20ppm to 32ppm) so I slowed down the bubble rate slightly. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Mitchell

Slowing down the bubble rate might already solve your problem. If not, a pump with a higher flow might be necessary. Also, if you have a sponge on the bottom of your reactor, see what happens if you remove it. Perhaps just a few small bubbles escape, and the flow improves a lot to prevent accumulation of CO2/air.
