removing haze on tank? painted over haze!

i just got a used tank with some haze on it, it was really dirty so i scrubbed it down good and 80% of the haze is gone but other is there.
its mainly on the outside of the tank where the fiter was hanging, i tried a algaescrubber and a razor blade but wont budge, anyone ever get this off? i know its not saltwater, i think its hard water build up

Vinegar works quite well on firm deposits on the outside glass, I usually wipe down the outside with Vinegar Windex, spraying onto the paper towel to avoid overspray into the tank.

I tried removing this same stuff from a 20H I got once. The thought was, I got the tank cheap as heck, and I want it to look nice... twas a bad thought pattern lol. It ended up costing me more when I added up all the methods I tried and TIME spent scrubbing than buying a new tank (which I did in the end anyway lol) Hopefully you get yours clean!

If the vinegar didn't work, then you can try some CLR, but if that doesn't work, I agree with jargon and it'd be time to cut your losses.

i used regular household vinegar if that makes a difference. i got 2 tanks on trade, only have 10 bux in both tanks so not a big loss if it wont come 90% clean. i may end up painting the back and sides to hide the haze.

they want 60.00 for a 20 long here so i will deal with the haze for now, at least the other tank is clean lol.

since this is really just a breeder tank i decided to paint over the haze to make it alot cleaner. its a shadowbox now but boy does it make a difference! 1st pic is end before paint. i used a 1.00 can of walmart royal blue and went over it with krylon fusion black, painted the rims to they were brown and looked bad as well. best thing to do for a hazey tank.
may turn it into saltwater later on so the blue works for both, im sick of black myself.
