Exterior acrylic paint for stand/canopy?

Is it suitable? it seems like there is conflicting information, ive seen recommendations on aquarium forums to use it yet other sources (not aquarium related) state that it has mildewcides, fungicides etc that aren't meant for indoor use.
Thoughts? can it be harmful to humans or fish?

I don't think it would be an issue unless part of the hood is submerged in the water? Even then, I doubt it. People use pressure treated wood for aquarium stands/hoods all the time, and I think its just as potentially toxic as paint.
