So I have been trying to come up with a light fixture for my 46 gallon tank that would hold the following bulbs, three 3W LED's, and four 6500K CFL bulbs. Everything I came up with was to big and bulky, leaving no room to do any tank maintenance or planting. So I went to Wal-Mart and purchased seven of the clamp on lights. I proceeded to clamp them on the back rim of the tank. This is what the final setup looks like. I do have a glass top on the tank so there is no worries about the lights falling into the tank. I have run this setup of bulbs for some time now and the plants seem to like it. Attachment 198922
Feel free to leave any comments good or bad. This is a redneck way to light a tank. Cost was just a little over 50.00 for the lights, I do not remember how much I paid for the bulbs. The CFL's I got from Lowe's and the LED's from EBay.
I used to keep an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

I have tried the walmart clamp on lights, the flexible part rusted in the moisture. Its just a thing to keep an eye on.... I would also support the lamps with something that does not put pressure on the tank. Don't want to put extra stress on the tank glass because of the weight of all the lamps.
