can't keep my daphnia alive....
I have a 1.5 gallon plastic tank taller than wide (maybe 12" × 7") I fill with aquarium water when I buy daphnia. For some reason I can't get them to grow. I use 1 quart of water with a half teaspoon of yeast for food adding only two or three drops per day to the culture. They still die. the temp is 76-80°f the water is from my discus tank so it's about as clean as I can give em. ph: 6.8
gh: 7 or 8 drops api test
kh: 5 or 6 drops api test
I don't have my cards handy for the conversions no ammonia, no nitrite and usually 5 or less nitrates sometimes the phosphates are up but I don't test for that often. I do approx 20% change every other day.
What am I doing wrong? Oh.. I also have them on a 12 hour light cycle hoping for green water... none so far...advice?
5 tanks & growing! Gotta get some moonlights so my fish can sleep cus I cant stop lookin!
