Post Hot glue, is it safe?

Being the broke teenager I am, I'm trying to save some money by doing a DIY drop checker. On all the DIY drop checkers that I read about require silicon. Instead of going out and buying the silicon, I was wondering if it was ok if I use hot glue instead. The hot glue sticks i have say that they're Non-toxic.

Use superglue, not as messy and twice as strong. I have used it in many diy projects, customizing breeder nets so the fry can't get out the sides, putting anubias nana on driftwood, sealing my lid shut so my daughter couldn't put her hand in the tank etc etc. great thing to have in the aquarium business, only 3 bucks.

must....have.....more....moss n shrimp!!!!!!!!!!

Yea I would use superglue, I used hot glue once and after a few months the hot glue started to yellow and it didn't look nice.
