Efficient DIY CO2 Diffuser?

Hey guys,

I am setting up a 2.5G, and I will be using DIY CO2. However, I can't find a good diffuser. Can anyone recommend a diffuser plan that is:
-Requires parts available at big chain stores (petsmart, petco, etc.)
-Small enough to fit in a 2.5G tank
-Not expensive
-Lasts a long time (no limewood airstones)

P.S.: I can't find the Hagen Elite Mini Filter anywhere.

With a 2.5gallon rig it to your HOB's intake with a plastic cup to keep bubbles submerged and not go directly to surface. U1 from fluval have venturi ports which work well.
(sorry no pictures just imagination).

I don't know of you'd like this or not since you don't want lime wood. I use a chop stick some times if my glass diffusers need cleaning and I don't get around to it right away. They're cheap and you can just toss them. I suction cup mine at the bottom of the tank horizontally under my HOB.

I just got the paintball setup from green leaf aquariums. I use the smallest diffuser they have and man, the bubbles are small! You definitely want a pressurized system if your gonna get a good stone diffuser.
Since your tank is so small though, you may want to go with a more passive diffuser. Some have used Bell style diffusers, or ladder diffusers. This just lets the co2 collect and passively absorb through the water. Try looking around online for some designs, the bell type would be really easy and compact to design.

I used the cheapo 'nano' glass diffusers when I ran DIY co2 with great results. 3 for 10 on the bay....cheap and very efficient.
