How much are they and what exactly do they do?

impressive! good idea and simple tools to make instant bellows and take macro pictures.

use black paper to make a cone on the DVD lens, reduce side glare.

Well I can't really do that because I have to hold it VERY close to the subject. Would moving the lens farther away from the lens of my camera allow me to shoot subjects farther away, or is it the other way around?

They're like your magnifying thing but you get better quality.

They attach to your slr lens.

Poor Genius comes up with a really cool DIY for a macro lens on a cell phone, made for free, and he gets feedback on f-stops and exposure time. LOL!
This is the DIY forum, people!

So, kudos, Genius, on the DIY! I think it is really cool, and a big upgrade on what a cell phone can do. SFW it if does not measure up to a SLR with a true macro lens.

What did you use for the cardboard tube?

Haha I'm not poor -- just... Ingenious . I was supposed to be wrapping gifts when I made it... So used the cardboard from the wrapping paper.

I just tried this with a microscope lens I have in my lab, it's magnified my cell phone picture enough so I could take pictures of the diode with my cell phone!!!

I do have much better setup, a DSLR camera and a 180mm macro lens, but once in a while my DSLR is not ready, I only need to the pull out my phone and a "macro lens" from my pocket, and take some macro pictures.

just found the answer on these cell phone attached lenses, and there are more available in full range: fish eye, wide angle, long range, macro... lenses!

try photojojo, the seller on evil bay.
