How to clean out an old fish tank?

I have an old fish tank that was left outside for a while and would like to clean it up. There are no cracks in it and I want to use it as a planted tank. is there any save good way to clean it that will not be harmful for any livestock I want to put in it?

Vinigar is a good glass cleaner. You can also use a 10:1 dilution of bleach to disinfect it, just rinse very well--like with a garden hose. How dirty is it?

Mostly just stuck on dirt there was some mud in it over the summer but I did turn it upside down and it all drained out.

Dish soap + rag + garden hose. Rinse well. Don't scratch.

vinegar for hard-water stains, #0000 steel wool in combination with the vinegar WILL NOT scratch the glass unless you stand on it. If you use steel wool on the hard-water stains make sure you rinse the tank really good to make sure there's no leftover stuff.

(I used steel wool on the rim of a rimless tank with hard water stains and they're gone without much trouble)
