Issue with tank mounts

Hello,

We have two of your lights. They work well. My only complain is that the tank mounts are not secure. When the light is bumped, they frequently jump out of the track. I can't imagine using this on a tank with no lid.

I would recommend that you redesign this so the light is securely attached to the mount and doesn't pop off.

i have the tank mounts non hanging and mine are perfect, i have no lid and set them so they would not slide by makeing sure the screw where tight. and use the rubber feet as more of a pressure hold.

What I am experiencing is that the plastic semi-circle with the rubber legs pops off the light. There is nothing "locking" it in place. There needs to be a way to lock the units together. Perhaps if it was made of metal, rather than plastic? Or if it had a screw that could be installed to permantely mate the two together?

Hi Aplomado. This can happen if the brackets are not extended out far enough, as this can cause tension between the two plastic parts. Can you try to slide the metal backing plate further towards the end of the fixture?

PS - We use plastic to eliminate the possibility of rusting.

Let me know if this helps :-)

No, it doesn't help. The brackets are at the very end already. Can you make the part out of anodized alumium or something? It's just not secure. When I handle it, it frequently pops right off.

Can you post a photo that shows the problem? I have a couple of these fixtures and cannot quite visualize what you are experiencing.

Ok, I've realized what is causing this. When the light is rotated too much, it pops right out of the bracket, sort of like in the picture. Since the light swivels freely, this happens sometimes when I move the light. It needs something to lock it in place, like a screw.

Hi Aplomado. The tank mounts are designed to swivel +/- 20 degrees. After the max tilt, they will pop out of the track. When used within the above range, they should hold the fixture securely. How far are you trying to tilt the fixture? If it is within this range, we will swap you set of mounts.

Talk soon
Nick

The issues is that sometimes when the fixtures are moved, they will swivel too far and pop out. There needs to be some way to lock them in place so this won't happen. Maybe a bolt that can be tightened? It could be bad if it fell in an open top tank...
