Every product starts with a prototype. Then we make sure it works well before investing in making 100 and testing the 100 before making 1000 and testing those before we ship (the launch) along the way you'd be surprised at how many things go wrong. Inside each fixture contains dozens of parts from dozens of other manufacturers. We have to ensure they are all made of great quality. Many don't do this or don't have to because they don't create anything new, they simply repackage or make minor changes to existing products which is why the planted aquarium hobby have seen so little innovation.

don't take me wrong i really appreciating that you taking your time and providing every body here with updates. but i was just saying that it would be nice to know that new light is not a final product and its going to be just a prototype so people don't get their hopes up at least not for few more months.

Yup, I've waited this long for this light to come out. Hopefully it'll come out before the heat starts setting in.

I was considering another Sat +, but with this coming out I'm holding off.

I wonder if you guys would give owners with multiple Sat +'s a break if we end up getting this after the release but need more lighting now

If two of the Sat+ fixtures won't grow your plants well, you must have a really deep tank. I run two on my 40B and the results are incredible!

Deep isn't the issue, as the tanks are only 8" high, it's more so the brightness. The system seems like it could be brighter, so I was considering getting another strip or just upgrading to this bad boy and keep the settings a little lower and when I decide to bump up the size of the tanks (as the current strip spans 3 cubes) I could just up the intensity of the light.

I got ya. I love my 2 and the adjustability brightness up or down is great.

+1

Results have been more than satisfying on my 60p using 2 Sat+ (14" tall tank). Only reason I want to get the higher output light is because I'm planning a rescape and I want the new setup to have a suspended light, clear background, and Lily pipes.. different direction of what i have now.

But here's a little progression demonstrating the effectiveness of two Sat+.

2 Months of growth... from initial planting. Before and After!
