well. the problem is that WC herps often have parasites that a long time captive or captive bred herps have never been exposed to and can cause them to get sick or die.

Its never a good idea to mix WC and captive animals at all. BUT.....

if i HAD to keep it, i would quarantine it for no less than 30 days. Id take it to the vet for a check up. AT THE VERY LEAST!

And lastly. Please check with your states DHR site to see what laws may apply to keeping WC animals in captivity. I know that here in Ga, you could face up to a year in jail and a $1000 fine for attempting to keep a WC herp.

There are 2 types of people on this forum. Those that have algae, and those that lie and say they don't.

+1 to this.

also, it might be worth finding an exotic vet in your area and having the new guy get a health checkup.

if you're willing to pay for it you can usually find a vet that will give the same level of care to reptiles/amphibians/etc... that you could get for your cat or dog.

i remember when i was younger my brother's box turtle caught pneumonia. we came back from the vet with a stack of syringes and inject-able antibiotics. i'll never forget given that guy daily sub-q injections under the scales on his forearm. eventually he made a full recovery.

long story slightly longer, have a vet check him out. they can probably do a stool sample parasite check and go over some of the other basics of his health.
