Axototls

So today the family and I were hitting up some end of the summer garage sales. We pull up to one and there is a 10 gallon tank with just a couple of inches of water in it and very dirty. I figured they were throwing it away as it looked very poorly taken care of. When I looked closer there was a axototl swimming around. And I only knew this bc of the tpt member doing raok for there eggs over the last month. But why would someone leave this thing I. The yard sitting next to a tv and ac unit. It looked liked trash, so I scoped the garage sale out and headed back to my car and the Apparent owner of this tank asked if I wanted the newt. I said it wasn't a newt but would happily take it. I've never owned one and with only a quick read up got it home and set up a tank with a piece of slate, a log cave and a sponge filter in it. Any advice on what I should do?

I did read the bit about cool water, he/ she water is right around 65 degrees. As they don't like fast moving water that's why I'm using a sponge filter and bare bottom as they can eat the substrate unless its sand. So temporarily I'm housing him/ her until I learn more and an provide a decent home.

Is it a regular one or albino? If you need a powerhead for more flow PSP still had a bunch < $10 when I was there last night.

It's a regular one. I went to aqua life and George said if its a mud puppy it will turn into a tiger salamander. I have the sponge filter in there I read they only really like low flow. I picked up some night crawlers for it and my turtle to chow on

Ill snap some when i get home. Very simple as i just threw it together. Piece of slate on the bottom, some half of log decoration i had laying around for him to hide in and a sponge filter. I threw in some java fern to float around that i had laying around. No light yet as id like him to settle in.
