I guess I should've been clearer. I've been guilty, way too many times, of cramming the biggest tank I could manage to fit in a given space. Every time, they went great until I had to work in the tank for whatever reason. Frustrating and I've learned my lesson. I may be over-stepping my bounds here, but you should think about a new rack to hold those tanks. I know, I know; that's easy for me to say.
I think the marineland fixtures will slip into a 1" space if you remove the sliding tank mounts. But that would leave the fixture right on top of a glass top. Not advisable.
