ray 2 36" DS or 2 18" DD for 40 breeder

Trying to decide to use ray 2 36" DS lengthwise or 2 18" DD back to front on 40 breeder. Any suggestions?

Hello. What are the dimensions of your breeder?

I have a 36 on my breeder and seems to be high light. My plants pearl like crazy.

Sure, may I ask what you're looking for? Low, medium, high lighting? I'll suggest a fixture based on your tank and needs

I'm looking for high light. My thought was the two shorter lights might provide a better spread since the tank is so wide.

The 3 footer should give you the high light you desire throughout the tank. Though, tall plants right underneath the light may block some of that useful light.

Will the ray 2 36" ds be too much light for a low tech 40 breeder?

I'm kind of wondering this myself. I just picked up a Ray 2 36" on my 40B which is also low tech.

If you want low tech, I think you may want to go with the FugeRay instead of the FugeRay 2. PAR values haven't been released on the new 36" FugeRay but in comparison with the other FugeRays, it should be a nice low light to medium. The FugeRay 2 would require more of a high tech approach with CO2
