+1 on your method of acclimation or the lack of. I've used it for about a year now and couldn't be happier with the results. I've net and dropped SSS+ CRS, BKK, Shadow Pandas, Pandas, Blue Bolts and all lower grades of shrimp. I do conduct a WC 48 hours prior to livestock arrival so that the target tank has pristine water. Thanks MsJinkzd.

Congrats! Nice write up too. Thanks for explaining the science behind it.

My fatality rates on personal stock were terrible for the longest time using the "float" method and the "drip" method. So many people act as if it's written in stone. Finally after losing a few angels I swallowed my pride and asked my LFS owner what she did.

She takes me in the back room, as she had just gotten a delivery...she goes, "watch very closely". I'm all waiting for some super secret pet store lady magic...she opens the bag, and...splash! Tosses them all into thier tank, smiles at me and walks back up front.

Thanks for the write up, I won't be so up tight with drip acclimation then, this certainly makes thing easier!

Do you really have 32,000 views on that article alone?

Nice write up, but this doesnt seem to hold true if breather bags are used since they allow the exchange of O2 and CO2.

Not that it matters, I drop and plop anything thats shipped.

I didn't include or mention breather bags as I will not use them. Unless neutral to soft water is being used, in theory, they would allow for teh ammonia that develops to become extremely toxic in my moderately hard water.

So do you float at all, or just dump and drop straight from the packing container?

This would sure make my job a lot easier. lol Cut open 30 boxes of SW fish & inverts yesterday. That process takes about 9 hours. 10% of the average shipment gets 1/2 acclimation and then we'll re-ox and bag overnight to address what seems to be hypoxia in some specimens.

It raises the temperature? My tank is heated, so open water gets much colder. I've always had to bag and float after the drip to get the temp right.
