Probably will be placing a big order of pygmies and shrimp from you soon.

Any suggestion on stocking levels of malawas or cherries in a HEAVILY planted 55 that will have 17 CPDs in it such that the colony will be self sustaining?

CPDs will be the only possible predator.

Won't happen until we're out of the apartment unfortunately. Maybe by next winter. I have a 29g sitting empty in the garage right now. Thinking it needs a whole lot of tiny fish.

Its one of the risks of adding a living thing to take care of pest snails. Its so easy to not see their eggs!

I would start with 10-20 of each and just let their populations boom.

I like tiny fish in decent sized tanks! Makes quite an impact

CPDs won't eat all the babies with that few shrimp?

Thanks!

They won't eat adults. Since the tank is heavily planted, its likely they will establish.

You could easily start with more, 10 is just what I recommend to make sure you get a good mix of genders. I generally sell adult cherry shrimp, but mixed size malawas.

they are not generally readily available on most import lists. In all honesty, my water is not ideal for them so I leave the more challenging asian caridina to those who are good at it. Might check in with speedie. I know he has a great stock.
