Well I'm glad to see that the USA men atleast managed to win bronze in basketball. If they played all of their games like they did today in the 4th quarter, they might have actually won gold. What a shame.

i think they just were not competant enough as a team... that was the problem. Some of the other countries teams' were just more experianced together. Also, the olympics rules or "game play" are somewhat different than that of the NBA...I mean that you have to be more ON with ability to shoot baskets then slam-dunk (now anyways)...like one annoucer said, it was a whole different way of playing the game then what they are used to...the emphasis in the NBA is different (not to say they do not have talents to play that way it is just that they are not used to emphasizing that way).

Blaming experience or the international game is a cop-out.

The best basketball players in the world are in America. the NBA is the pinnacle of competition in the sport. If it weren't US players would be leaving to play overseas, not vice versa.

This collection of players played with little heart or urgency. AI as the team captain? Marbury? He is a joke. I remember watching the collision between Marbury and Jason Williams. They banged together hard and both players went down on the court. It was then that Williams broke his leg, an injury that ended his career. When Marbury got up, (I hope you guys are sitting down when you read this) his MOMMY ran out on the court and started hugging him and rubbing his face.

Also many of the players were second or third choices to be on the team in the first place.

There was no reason for this team to lose. It is a shame Tim Duncan had to be a part of this.

Well the Olympics are over and after watching a fair share of it including the closing ceremonies I have to say that the Greeks had pulled off a remarkable feat. They bought the culture and history of Greece and the Olympics to a new high with amazing pomp and circumstance and incredible arenas and locations. They will pay for a long time for the cost of this being such a small country but they sacraficed their budget for their History and I think it was well worth it.

I agree. Greece did a phenomenal job as a host nation. I especially liked seeing athletes perform on ancient sites such as shot put and the marathon. Performing on the exact same ground as, quite possibly, Alexander the Great must have been in incredible experience.

Agreed, that is what made these olympics so great. Just looking at the archways on the shot put site was phenominal. I do give Greece applause for a great olympics. I still think the Brazilian Marathoner was the star of the olympics, how well he handled the situation. I wish I could have made it to these olympics in greece, but what can you do.

You have to give the US Basketball team a break .... they chose to play when "better" players stayed home so we shouldn't be so critical. We should just send college players in the future cause they'll get more time to gel as a team .... which is what we basically sent (w/ w week's practice). I can finally get to bed early now!
