Well I know there are some electrical smarties on here, so I thought I would ask.

I bought my husband a Neo Geo game console and had it imported from Japan. Japan runs on 100v and I know that here in N. America it is different, so I assume I need a converter/transformer thingy.
So I have been looking online and found these 2.

Someone please point me in the right direction. I am clueless, which is nothing new ops:

Don't quote me on this, but most power supplies are designed to run over a range of voltages. Very few houses deliver exactly 110 volts to each and every electrical plug. Some deliver less and some deliver more. It may be possible that it would just pick up and run so long as Japan runs at 60 hz (and I believe they do because they use NTSC just like us).

Apparently they do make a product that will down convert your plugs to Japanese specs. Try this site: http://www.directmerchandiseusa.com/...hoe_ss5504.htm

Yeppers, I am sure it would run, but I have heard that it will get excessively hot after a period of time, thus shortening the life of the game console.
Trust me, Shan(husband) is not going to do anything that might hurt his baby.
This is a man who still regularly plays the original nintendo, sega and etc.
I looked at your link and it is similar to the second device i originaly posted. It is all just very confusing to me. I am so dense
The power supply has this info listed, if it is any help:

AC 100V 50/60Hz 55VA
DC 5V 2A
DC 10V 1A

Maybe I should just contact SNK Corp and see if they have a power supply, since I hear this is a fairly common problem.

Thanks for trying to help DLeDeaux
