El Natural?

Would someone please explain to me the meaning of "El Natural". I've seen it thrown around quite a bit, and it makes about as much sense to me as "The La Brea Tar pits" does or on the Taco bell commercials "Grilled carne asada steak"....

Note: Anyone who speaks Spanish will understand why this causes confusion.

OK, I can give you the basics.
It's a "lo-tech" methodology by Diana Walstad.
Do a google search on her, and you can read all about it.
IMO the biggest difference is It's a soil substrate capped with gravel to provide Carbon.
She has a book out called: "Ecology of the Planted Aquarium"
IMO It's a very good read, but can have parts that are a bit too techy for some.

I like to chill out el natural when my wife isn't home to make me be non-neanderthal...wait, did you mean regarding planted aquaria . Sorry for the visual!

For Sale: Parachute. Only used once, never opened, small stain.

Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.

I guess I still fail to see how "El Natural" has any significance other than a catch phrase used to sell books. El Natural doesn't "mean" anything. It translates to be: The Natural

The Natural what?

It would have been better titled "El Naturalista", meaning The naturalist.

I just have a pet peeve about names, phrases, titles that have no basis or rational coherence for their intended purpose.

For those wondering, Grilled carne asada steak can be translated to - Grilled meat grilled steak, or a real translation of Grilled steak steak. Just like The La Brea Tar pits means The The Tar Tar pits.

And Anthony, I think you mean "Au Natural" which is French for "like natural".

I've never responded 'till now - sooo here it goes... I just had to say "You're funny!"
I also thought that "El Naturel" was another way of saying "Naked" or "completely natural" - nothing added; just skin! So I was real close to being 'right-there-with-you' until ~ you threw-in the "Sorry for the visual" part! Then you had me in stitches! Thanks! I needed a great visualized laugh! (ahhh~ visualized laughter, if that's even a thing!? lol)
~ Peace, Qual (Nola)

Some might think the same about the phrase IROC Z28.
Just a catch phrase to sell you a car.

Not really. IROC is an acronym for International Race of Champions and the Z28 designates a particular kind of car.

How about "el metodo naturalista"? That might be better as Robert Redford getting shot in a hotel room for being the best that ever was doesn't really relate to aquariums.
