Haha thanks, its just a bunch of spare parts forced together so I don't know if sophisticated is the best word for it haha. I have a thread going on it if anyone cares to take a peek and make suggestions.

Double entendre eh?

Dilution is the solution for the pollution.

I'm hoping we can resurrect it with new members!

So I have several questions, since I can now ask in one place and not have to search the whole forum.

Is there such thing as too much florescent light? Like too high of a wattage or too much full spectrum?

How do I know when the miracle grow soil has been depleted of stuff?

I read somewhere that you are supposed to trim the roots before shipping or replanting? Can anyone elaborate how much of a root trim?

Can you replant these roots?

As you can tell, I'm very excited to start, but very ignorant as well. LOL

Here's a pic of my tank:

Stand is 7" tall (actually 6.5" due to floor glass thickness) in a 55g.

I currently have a 40w florescent light that came with the tank. Thinking about switching the bulb depending on the answer above.

The heater on the floor of the tank is remote controlled, and I plan on setting it at 80F.

I have miracle grow potting soil and plan on using individual 2.5" square plastic seedling pots.

RAOK Club and BBRR Club! My thinking has been invert-ed!

There is no such thing as to much light. I was gonna suggest with te egg crate having an access hole in case u need to get to the heater. I don't have one and would have to pull every pit out on one side to remove the egg crate.
I personally don't trim the roots, I'll take a stem plant and lay it across the soul. Each leave will then become its one branch. The roots grow down and new stems grow up. Also with crypts I've had good luck trimming the root and laying what I cut off in too if the soil and having new plants grow from that

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

I'm hoping the heater being remote controlled will not have to be touched except outside the tank. heh

I love seeing the pics you guys have added!
