I rescued him today from his half of a poland spring bottle for $5. Tons of filth in there. im pretty sure that store never changes betta water, but they do get nice bettas in. This is the prettiest betta I have ever owned! He looks like this most of the time when flared, though it changes in different lighting from peach to violet to white. He has incredibly long "beard" fins. No idea what the name of those are.
Then sometimes he looks like THIS!! Seconds after putting him in the tank he floated down to the sand and sat for a little. This photo is accurate to how he looked.
Love his bright blue eyes!
He is so gentle it's insane. He's with cories, endlers, Amanos, and a female betta. Temperature is 80 F. She is absolutely vicious about bloodworms, but has never attempted attacking anyone. He has not nipped any fish, but has flirted with my girl, without chasing too hard or nipping. The only other fish he flared at was the female endler who is quite an obnoxious pig. He prefers to swim against the filter flow surprisingly. Not sure why, but he has stayed there for a while swimming and flaring... Maybe it feels good to be in clean water and able to stretch out. I like that he ate a worm off the bottom, which most bettas ignore.
Help naming? I'm thinking of Bengal, Tiger, or Damaro. Also my girl betta needs a name. No ideas for her though.
I am going to set up a separate tank for breeding him. He's so gentle and gorgeous, and energetic enough that he might be breedable.
