I suddenly really want to make a root-over rock "Lone Cypress" (Pebble Beach CA) themed bonsai planting... that would be incredible. Anyone seen anything like that?

The would be nice. I don't think I've seen one, maybe once in the Brooklyn, NY botanical garden.

I don't know how I'd go about doing it and it would likely cost several hundred dollars or years... Haha

Exactly. If you've been there, you know how much depth there is to its surroundings...

However a large large rock overlooking a small pond with a pretty large/medium tree would be cool...
