the i don't want to work thread spawned on this question.

I'm a front end web developer. what that means is, I handle what you see when you're on a website. Anything you can click or interact with (unless it's flash) was done by myself or other front end developers.

on the side i do both back and front end, from setting up a web server, to handling the database layer to pushing the data from that to a template that ultimately you view and interact with.

Nice!

I work for a small business here I central Illinois that does electronic recycling, sells refurbished computers, and repairs pc/macs. I tend to do it all, but the job I was hired for is rebuilding the machines we sell everyday, as well as repairing any pc/macs that come in to the repair lab. Currently have 4 stores here and waiting to get bought out so we can open another 40 across the Midwest. ^^

I map soils and vegetation in the southwest. Maps include all forbs, shrubs, trees and grasses growing on specific plots and soil texture, rock fragments, colors, depth, clay content, root content...etc. Requires much hiking, digging, observing and writing. It is fairly enjoyable work.

i'm a tax examiner for the IRS, and i do a lot of computer work on the side, anything from repair and small upgrades, to installing a small networks in a home offices, to troubleshooting networks in small businesses. before my career with the gov. i worked for comcast for 8 years. i went from the most hated corp in the world to the most hated sector of the gov. :icon_twis

I work at a pet shop on the fish side of our store. Its half fish and inverts and half replites, critters, small animals etc. Has been incredibly all summer and work days are very boring. When I started up here it was winter and was so much fun helping out new aquarists. Probably going to look for a second job.

Also in full time school right now.

I'm a business intelligence specialist.. I spend my days taking requests for reports from different departments looking to know how they are performing. In essence I mine data and put together neat reports to tell you that you need to step up your game or find a new line of work. I am also a parking enforcement officer for the county so those wonderful human beings who double park illegally in the assisted parking spots without a permit or block the fire lanes so they can do their shopping.. they get a happy-gram from me to pay a nice fine for their time.

I used to be an Exhibit Specialist for the local government, but now I'm retired and started my own Photography and Graphics Design business. Finished three classes of Adobe in May. Mostly, these days, I'm in my fishroom or outside gardening or cutting the grass, drinking beer in the middle of the day and hanging out with my little dog and big ass cat. Oh yeah, I spend a lot of down time on forums.

does full time student count? I used to work at a pet store, but it was too depressing so i moved to a sports store, where I sell winter clothing to people. amazing how much they'll spend on stuff (1500$ for a coat?! 800$ for pants?!).

I'm in a co-op program, so hopefully they'll place me in some cool things next year :D
