I have a measly 30-40. I need more. Most of my pics are on my home computer, but I have a few available to post now.

I'll try and upload more sometime later.

Very nice pictures! I think I might need to get a light just for orchids now! I love mine!

Seeing this thread makes me want to get back into orchids.
I had over 70 in my collection, but sold them all off on craigslist last year.
I'll say one thing, I now have more time on my hands.

Still miss them though :^(

Didn't see Eden's post, that was a beautiful orchid!
I don't have great pictures, but here are some. And I don't know much about their names. None of these are in bloom now, but I hope to have some start in a few more months.

Here is where they are mounted above my 150 gal.

Small phalaenopis

Mini orchid

I didn't get pictures of my brown and yellow spidery oncidium while it was blooming.

I also have a very large oncidium on a stand next to the tank. I have this picture from when it was on my last backdrop.

Amazing! How hard would it be to keep orchids indoors at our house in Colorado? I always just assume they wouldn't survive long

Not hard. I know many people who succsessfully keep many orchids. You can do it with the right care and plant choice

What about humidity? It's incredibly dry here and that's what makes my nervous about keeping orchids.

A mister bottle every couple days will help you out Dave.

Some of the common windowsill orchids that you see at Home Depot or wherever are among the easiest and most forgiving of houseplants. There are some kinds that do just fine in pretty dry air. Most orchids live up in the tops of trees, so they have to be able to survive dry conditions. The most important consideration for most orchids is that they need very good drainage. Most are also intolerant of salts, so it is best to use rainwater or RO.

I have a few orchids going right now. Here is a shot with a little Phalanopsis hybrid and a Sophrolaelicattleya (a tri-generic cross) on top of the fridge.

Putting several plants together like this is another good way to increase humidity in their microclimate.

I agree with Justin, tank water is not good for orchids. I learned the hard way that they DO NOT like Excel at all. Or Ferts for that matter. I use RO or rain water myself now.

They don't like ferts!?!?! Oh noes! I need a new mister then. I mist my emersed plants with rootmedic liquid mixed in the bottle. I will use r/o water then.
