here is the latest pic of the aquascape. i added a tall rock to the right back corner and pushed the tree down some more. i plan to paint that filter intake black; it's bugging me. i might plant some micro swords nestled between some of the rocks. it seems like i should add something tall in the background, but something is stopping me from wanting to do that. not sure why.

the latest--with a few background plants. i plan to add more this week. finally decided on stocking with 2 dwarf puffers. so of course that meant i had to build and scape a tank just to breed snails for the puffers...this is a disease

the tank has grown in some and i'm really pleased with it. i have 2 dwarf puffers, some yellow cherry shrimp and a few large nerites. + 2 otos. the puffers are so much fun; i really recommend them to anyone with a planted tank.

This is a versitile plant and is a fairly easy grow type. It floats also and when you trim it
because it grows at med speed, the pieces float up rather than make you pick them from the bottom of the tank. I was thinking you could wrap some around thefilter up-take and it would give you something at the top in the back of the tank. You can find a rubber band(or just thread) that fits loosely and put it just over the intake screen.
It will grow upwards and when trimmed it quickly regrows new leaves to hide that it's been trimmed.
If that is Petco "Mondo" grass it may not live. Corkscrew val might be used to replace it if so.
It is filling in nicely and the new rock in the right back balances it also.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...

oh yeah--TOTAL NEWBIE mistake on the mondo grass. i originally had cyperus helfri and it browned out so i was looking to replace it. saw the mondo grass at petco and grabbed it. was SO ticked off to get back to my computer and read all about how it's not even aquatic. grrrrr . so yeah i will be replacing those plants as soon as they start to fail. thanks for the suggestions i will check those out!

last night i got home after being away 48 hours and my pea puffers looked like they were dying. they were just lying on the bottom looking pale. 48 hours earlier they were wonderful. i went to bed with a heavy heart. but this morning they are completely back to normal! weird.
