Totally Stuck On the Aquascape

Well, been doing the 36 all day and now that I'm almost done I'm stuck on the scape... It looks awkward to me. I'm making a huge mess of the eco complete moving things around

And I still have 2 swords, one anubias, a java fern, some bacopa and some ludwigia to place.

My biggest critique is that you should use only one type of rock for your hardscape.

I agree with cthulhu. But your layout does look nice. You just need more plants to balance the whole scaping.

I think once it grows in and matures you will be happier. That being said I am always second guessing my own setups.

My 7 gallon was setup to get back into the hobby and for practice but I am already bored with the scape I setup.

They are all petrified wood. None looked the same, the LFS didn't have any slate for 2 weeks, that's what I wanted :/

The only type of other rocks they had that looked similiar was stuff for cichlid tanks and my PH is already kinda high. I guess I could still search around for something else

EDIT: Now that I think about it, are you talking about the large rocks or the random river rock? Cause the river rock is just for anubias, java fern etc. I can take those out now if that's what looks weird.

Your tank does look very nice, except for the assorted rocks which has already been pointed out.
Your Anubia looks gorgeous - can you get 1 or 2 more like that ?
A bushy lighter green Hygrophila would look good in your tank, as would a Red Tiger Lotus.

I'm worried the swords will take over the background eventually so I tried not to crowd it. I'd be interested in a few more foreground plants though. LOVE tiger lotus, would it grow ok with lower level medium light?

Sure it would.

P.S. And you can keep it low & bushy with just a bit of regular trimming. Makes a very nice foreground/midground plant. Care to have a look at the Lotuses in my discus tank :

Awesome I like the look of hygro as well.

If I do switch out the rocks guys, what would you recommend that wouldn't raise the PH?
