Rocks?? Is ironstone okay?

Hey everyone, I have a bunch of ironstone found all over my yard, and I want to see if anyone has any experience using it in planted tanks??

Also, Does anyone have any experience using granite rocks in an aquarium?

I'm trying to find a cheaper substitute for seiryu, It doesn't have to look the same, I just want big rocks that aren't lava rocks or limestone.

Any suggestions??

I'm not familiar with it myself... But...what you can do... Is perform some basic test like pouring strong vinegar on it.. if it reacts... Its probably not very suitable. There's also soaking the rock and checking for changes in ph and/or tds and/or gh/kh.

Northern NJ is loaded with granite, and I have used it with no issues.
