My 55 gallon aquarium has been setup since late last year and decided to start putting plants in earlier this year. Looking for some opinions on where to take this tank. I'm attempting to do vals along the back towards the right, I'm filling in the left corner with some anacharis, and got a telantheria next to the anacharis, got a big piece of driftwood and 2 amazon swords in middle and some anubias and a crypt scattered around. I'm looking to maybe move the anubias and tie them to the driftwood and plant some more plants throughout the aquarium but not sure what to plant.
So far I'm not using co2. I'm dose excel daily and some flourish comp and flourish potassium twice a week. For lighting I'm using a dual t5ho unit with some window screen on it. Gravel is plain gravel and I'm using root tabs under most of the plants.
I'd love to see more plants. Also I'd remove those pots (or whatever they are). Add rocks instead. They would look way better. If your fish need them to hide in you can do the same thing with wood or rocks.
I think you need to do this before you add more plants so you can see where to plant.
Yes, they are pots. At some point I will probably move them and look for hollow pieces of driftwood to replace them with. My fish do enjoy going in there to hide or hang out from time to time.
For all those that would like to see more plants. Any recommendations for what I could add? I know I'd like to add a bit more red plants in there for sure. Most of the people who check out the tank love the telanthera because of the red.
Actually, I'm fine with the pots. Given your simpler plant choice, I feel like it makes a very simple feel....basically I think it works
But I would add more plants. get some java fern, anubias, and african fern, as well as some simpler stem plants and some crypts. Idk why but your tank makes me want to tell you to dedicate it towards simplicity and easier beginner plants.
Try removing the broken pots i know they look great but more natural! Try some really really fine white sand that would look amazing mayb =e dense te little plant forests up
Coconut shells make awesome spawning caves if you decided to take out the clay pots.
