Lightbulb How to get nice carpet

Was wondering how people get a nice carpet of moss.. I have fluorite subtrate but don't if it would work. Would only work with sand subtrate or attach it to some mesh.. I would like to try this out and see how I do.. Thanks

Use mesh and trim to achieve a nice moss carpet

Depends what you use. Plastic and stainless steel won't rust.

I use the mesh from aquatic magic, i find it better than the metal mesh most people use, its cheaper, sinks just as fine, and the black looks better than bright silver.

I agree with the two posters above me. I have also used window screening.

I just used plastic regular craft mesh, but unfortunately, it doesn't sink very well, so I would advise against it. Whatever mesh you do use, cut two sheets into the shape you want, and then sow three sides with fishing line. Push in bits of moss and spread it around, then sow the fourth side closed. Worked well enough for me.

So, even though the mesh on Aquatic Magic says "wall covering mesh" you can still do it on the floor of the tank?

55 gallon, 48" T5 HO, SunSun HW303A and Emperor 400 filtration
