Back in the hobby again ADA 45F

Seems I can't stay away. Now that im a lil older and have more $ Im trying to do things right this time around. Mainly doing/buying the things I wanted to do when I was younger but too broke cough ADA . Still trying to be cost effective though and not go all out, I have plenty of other money pits around the house haha.

Setup:
ADA 45F
Ikea Micke desk (will be used as my study spot too)
Eheim jager 50W heater
Eheim 2211
Hinterfield Lily pipes on the way
Hinterfield glass plant cup on the way
Aquasoil amazonia w/ powder cap
10 lbs seiryu stone
Aquatraders Beamswork 12" Led Fixture (EVO Clip-on LED 11" 6x 3W 6500K on the way)
Co2art regulator, Boyu diffuser, drop checker,24oz paintball tank/adapter on the way

I want a monte carlo carpet so started that today. I ordered too much though this was 3 pots, as you can see I have plenty left over floating. I also have some peacock moss on order from herns (should be here tomorrow) going to put that on some of the stones.

The tank has been going for about a week now, but I drained all the water today to plant the monte carlo. I added some marineland bacteria to help with the cycle when I started it.

Fish wise im thinking a school of neon tetras and
some shrimp but that will be down the road, I want to have the carpet going first.

I hung the light with fishing line from some guitar hangers I already had on my wall.

Added the moss to some of the stones. Found out my current light is only 200 lumens so I ordered a new one. The new light is a better temp also at 6500k and has (6) 3W leds putting out 810 lumens, it is also clip on so I can get rid of the fishing line hangers.
I also went ahead and ordered a co2 setup from co2art and an adapter to run off the 24oz paintball tank I ordered. My stuff from China is also already in the US so I should have that in a couple of days.

Will do a full update with more pictures once everything gets here. Also didn't mean to offend anyone with the whole money pit statement its just I already have over $500 in this tank and thats with me trying to be cost effective. I'm a college student so still not making that much money and have alot of other things that take from my money supply.

Welcome back. Looking good already. I thought that was Monte Carlo before I read it. It was sent to me by mistake, but it has turned into a very thick carpet.

Thanks and I got them from aqua forest aquarium it prob helped I ordered the tank at the same time. I think they tried to give me stones that would fit well in it.

Just a little update:

The good: All of my stuff came in and Ive been running co2 since Friday. The peacock moss is doing great and has grown already, alot of my monte carlo melted before the co2, but is now starting to carpet a little and some new growth. I also added a halfmoon betta on Saturday.

The bad: Ive been having some problems with Brown hair algae/diatoms and film on top of the water. I think I added too much liquid bacteria initially and that's causing the film but its getting better since I added the lily pipes. I also think I should have washed my stones and that's causing the algae plus its still a new tank.

I plan on doing a water change tomorrow and pulling out as much of it as I can. I also ordered some filter pad and purigen for the 2211 and some excel so I will start dosing that as well. Ive also been running the light for way too long so I set that and the co2 on a timer for 6 hours (3 hours on, 1 hour break, 3 hours on) think I'm going to crank up the co2 a little too(currently around 1-1.5 bps).

I'll definitely add some more pictures soon, but I want to get this algae under control first.

Monte Carlo is carpeting even more now, I think in a couple of weeks everthing will be thick and covered. The hair algae hasn't come back ive been double dosing excel everyday.

Think im going to bump the co2 back down next tank, its almost empty at 11 days although I think they only put 20 oz in last time and some leaked out when I was initially setting it up. Betta is doing good.

I'm thinking about picking up a mini s for my bedside table and going low tech with it. I have enough aqua soil left for it, that other light and a aqua clear 20. So I would just have to buy the tank, some driftwood/stones and a heater. I'll probably just go for a clone since an Aquatop is $60 less and apparently made in the same factory as ADA.
