The beginning, Julie's 60-P

I decided to start this as "The beginning" because it is definetely not my first tank, but this will slowly advance to more high tech. Into co2 and so much more! If you have any tips feel free to tell me.

TANK: ADA 60-P (17 gallon)
SUBSTRATE: Aqua Soil Amazonia, no additives
FILTRATION: AquaClear 20
LIGHTS: AquaticLife HO t5, 1x 18W roseate 1x 18W White 20" Currently on 12 hours a day during dry start.
CO2: Nutrafin CO2 and will set up another diy co2 system.
Dosing flourish and Exel (if needed)?

FAUNA:
Female bettas
Schooling fish possibly Boraras maculatus

FLORA:
Monte Carlo
Dwarf hair grass
Anubias nana petit
S.Repens
More to come to fill in the back!

I started the dry start a week or so. Planning to fill it on January 16th, but I might do it earlier ahah.

Here are some pics! Sorry for the horrible quality. I will improve this later on, these are just some of my first pics.

Day 1 vs day 7. Some growth.

Thank you!

Time for another update. I finally see some runners on the Dwarf Hair Grass.

Day 9 and I'm pleased with the growth, I'm thinking of possibly filling it early since I have some fish waiting to go in the tank. I'm hoping I won't get much melting if I set up 2 DIY CO2 Setups.

This looks great! I am thinking maybe I need to take some water out of my tank and plant more monte carlos. Why did you choose dwarf hair grass?

Thank you, when I first planted it in had too much water in the bottom left corner and once I took it out I think it's doing better. I just spray often.

I wanted to have some dwarf Hairgrass around the rocks, but I had too much. I don't really like it I think it extends too much away from the rocks. I'm hoping I can change some things in the future.

Yes of course! It will be my first time, I'm not sure which one to buy but I'm hoping under $200. I just need to get some more money after Chridtmas spending lol.

I would strongly advise against putting fish in. Once you fill the tank the AS will leach a ton of NH3 which will prove lethal to your fish. With AS-based tanks you should really wait several months. Let the tank grow in a bit and have the plants aid in the cycling.

Thanks for your comment! I will wait a bit to add the fish. I've used AS before and everything turned out alright. I will have a test kit in hand no worries.

Haha, I know it will be worth It, but I just feel bad for my fish. Crammed in a small tank

I'm guessing when I get pressurized I will change the carpet anyways and a new hardscape which will be soon hopefully. I'm worried my Monte Carlo will melt with not enough CO2 since I'll have only the Diy system by nutrafin and then another diy co2. I'm hoping for the best.

Anyways here is Day 13. I'm thinking I'll fill it tomorrow. Im pretty pleased with the growth in only 2 weeks.

Tank is filled! Still a mess right now and Co2 isn't working properly so I'll probably post pics tomorrow.

Just did a water change. Might add some harlequin rasboras first and see how things go. I hope it fills in soon! Still need some final changes such as a background. (Thinking black) Here's a pic.

The beginning, Julie's 60-P

I would slow down on the Rasboras for a bit, the aquasoil is gonna leach ammonia so I would wait till that bottoms out before adding them. Really love the scape though!

EDIT: Nevermind I saw your earlier post now hahaha, but just be careful
