Set up this week. Current stock is only a single male B. splendens.
A pair of amano shrimp, one zebra nerite, a few ramshorns, 3 - 5 pygmy corydoras (or something along the lines) and 3 - 5 white cloud mountain minnows are planned for the future.
This tank is my first in a while and is extremely basic, I just wanted something pretty for my dresser. It's a regular ten filled with 6.5 gallons of water, two huge driftwoods, a few rocks, and a few pounds of gravel taken from Lake Michigan, with a cheap Tetra 10 - 15 HOB filter (old, forgot the specifics), a heater set to 78 degrees (without air conditioning in here it's holding 80+ on its own now though, so that's not really needed until autumn). It's more or less stuffed with plants, all of which are emersed and all of which are free cuttings chopped off my houseplants - peace lily, wandering jew, pothos, and lucky bamboo draceana. I think they should be enough to silently cycle the tank right now for just one small fish who eats very little. I'll check the water every few days to make sure and if it stays stable consider adding a few others on my planned stock list. Lighting consists of a few hours of west sun in the afternoon, bright ambient sunlight, and a basic daylight fluorescent bulb in a hanging fixture. Fish seems very happy with his new world so far.
