blt's tank rack

Recently started a project I've been wanting to do for awhile, building a tank rack in my shop. Not having the room in my small house for a dedicated multi-tank setup or small fish room, I figured out a way to make some space for it in my ancient little shop.

After spending a few hours crawling around in the dirt the floor was sufficiently reinforced to where I'd be comfortable putting 300+ gallons on it. Rack building time:

The rack is all 2x4 with 3/4" OSB topping it, a couple layers of poly were put on drip prone areas. Foot print is roughly 2' x 10', the bottom and middle rows work for 40breeders or multiple 10s and 20s.

Plan for now is to do an aquaponics setup with the middle left and center 40breeders stocked with dwarf mbuna connected to a 29g sump lower left. No plants in these tanks, but hopefully they'll supply me with some year round edible ones.

The right side will be various planted 10s and 20s for attempted apisto and krib breeding, plus quarantine and fry tanks. Also thinking about testing the waters with a nano reef , as I have a major home renovation coming up and need to decide on a display tank for the living room.

Tanks should start to see water in the upcoming months as time allows.

Some goodies from Jehmco and Amazon showed up this week so I got to put the first couple tanks together.

20long not quite biotope African tank:

-anubias and some baby java ferns
-an AC50 for filtration
-finnex stingray for lighting
-planning on a pair of pelvicachromis taeniatus

First time I've tried painting the back of the tank and using super glue to attach plants, like the results of both.

Simple 10gal apisto tank:

-keeping it simple with almond leaves on the bottom and water lettuce up top
-still deciding on apisto type
-I'll probably set up another similar 10gal to the left of this one
-old quarantine tank on the right

Bit of mess right now with the wall opened up to figure out AC venting. It is nice walking in here at night with only the tank lights on, might have to move a comfy chair out here.
