My 46 g bowfront (56K warning) New pictures 2/27/2005

Here's my 46 g bowfront so far. I've managed to take a couple pictures using my Nikon N65 (I don't have a digital). What do you guys think? I may take the Crinum and fill in the back around the driftwood with the A. hastifolia. Other than that, I guess you can tell the left side is fast growing stem species while the right side is primarily Anubias spp.

Your tank has a very natural look. The plants 'flow' into one another seamlessly. I'm always quick to tell folks to start a foreground/carpet, but I'm not so sure I'd do this with your tank. I think the exposed gravel in the center offers nice contrast.

Thanks! I wanted to keep the open gravel portion so I could actually see my cory cats eating!! Those pictures are actually from last week and my Sunset Hygro's grew like crazy since then and have been pruned back.

Oh yeah, here is the layout I used. Of course when I move back to Atlanta in late July I may have to tinker with things when I replant. I want to get some Purple Cabomba in there somewhere...maybe behind the A. hastifolia.

Oh, you all mean like GSU? Go GSU! Lol, actually I'm not a college team fan so I won't get involved in this, the GSU was a joke..

On another note, I really like the way the 46g looks. I like all the different anubias spread around in a really nice layout. I also like the clearing in the middle. Great job.

Thanks Corigan. Nah, I was just ribbing Outkast about the 2002 bashing UGA put on GT (the worst defeat in the rivalry ever). UGA does play GSU this fall and that should be interesting.

Here's an update on the tank...the first pic is before pressurized CO2 and after upgrading my lighting. I had to remove all the Anubias and put them into a lowlight tank since they were getting swamped with GSA. My GF commented that it looked "too symmetrical" so I changed things around after I went pressurized

The second is after pressurized and three weeks later after re-scaping. All my D. diandra black-rotted away except for one good stem.

What do your think? Of course all of this is going to be torn town this friday since I'm moving AGAIN!!

Looking very excellent. Until now I had no idea of what your tank looked like -- and had to kind of "assume" you knew what you were talking about.

Glad I now know you do. Thanks for all of your help so far, by the way.

Update!!!

Well, it's taken me forever to get these pictures developed. I'm still envious of all of you with digital cameras and can simply upload pics. I have to do it the "old school" way with a N-65 and 35 mm film!!

The first few pictures are from the initial setup after I moved out of hell (Auburn) and back to Georgia (Go DAWGS!!! Sic 'Em!!!!). As you can see I had to tinker with the lighting because 2 PC fixtures can get pretty hot. I still have to run a fan over the lights and tank to keep the water about 78, but I'm happy with the set up. The fluorite was a major PITA to clean, but the diatom filter helped out...after recharging the filter about 4 times!!

You'll also notice all my plants had the crazy bends after storing them in a cooler for 24 hours (I even had the lid closed). After 2 months things have filled in nicely and I've had to trim A LOT!! My L. peruensis (glandulosa) are sending out side shoots like crazy so I'm in the process of propagating them for trade (hint)...those are the small red plants you see in the front. I kept the open front so my cories would be happy. Before with the H. zosterifolia carpet, they were miserable. Tell me what you think. ps...I'm looking for E. stellata and are willing to pay or trade for them.
