My *NEW* 5.5g Betta

Well, as some of you know, Atlas, the old resident in this tank, passed recently due to an extremely fast killing dropsy

But, on a happy note, I redid the tank and now have a new betta!

Specs:
Substrate - Seachem Flourite (HOLY SH*T MESSY. Hours of rinsing.)
Plants - I really wish I knew
Light - Finnex Fugeray Planted+
Filter - None at the moment, just an air stone. Filter I was going to use was WAY too strong. Will be ordering another sponge filter for the tank.
Heater - Petco 50w Adjustable

Will be dosing EI and excel with root tabs once the plants get settled.

Here are some pictures of the tank and Nova the double tail:

RIP to your previous betta.. sorry to hear he didn't make it.

Anyway, great start. Nice betta you have there in pics. Can't wait for the plants to fill in, eh? Always exciting when you get new stuff up and running.

Thanks! He was a good boy.

CAN'T wait for them to grow in. They were taller, but since the flourite fiasco (taking FOREVER to rinse) they were in a bucket for two days. They weren't very happy with me about that!

I know its stone but at first glance I thought your Buddha was a soap bar haha. Though I've never seen one with both knees straight up, usually 'Indian style' or one knee up and one down.

Okay so the Planted+ was TOO MUCH light. I could keep up with EI dosing since this tank is at my girlfriend's house, so I traded the Planted+ for a FugeRay Original! I have to do a MAJOR algae clean and a rescape.

I'm going to use only root tabs and weekly Seachem Flourish Comp. (and probably Comp. on my bowls too. Easier that way.)

Hardest fish to photograph!

I'm happy to say, reducing the lighting solved the algae problem for the most part! Plants seem to be doing decently, especially the ludwigia in the middle.

Nova seems to have marbled a bit!
