Hello beautiful people of TPT!
The tank featured here was part of another thread from over a month ago, but I felt it got lost since I was doing updates on 4 other tanks. I've decided to dedicate this thread to this tank only, since so much keeps happening plant-wise.
Here are the details:
Great Choice 20L from Petsmart
15 lbs. Floramax black mixed with about 8 lbs Floramax regular and gravel
Double Sponge Filter (for shrimp) and Top Fin HOB rated @ 100 GPH
3x26w CFL hooked to generic Walmart Fixture. Bulbs rated @6500 K and 1600 lumen + Current Satellite (NOT +)
EI dosing Macros and Micros. Osmocote+ and clay root tabs in substrate.
2x 2 Liter DIY Co2 (mix is half tablespoon yeast, 1.5 cups sugar, and half tsp. baking soda). I get 3-4 bps easily and reactors are changed every 7-10 days.
Flora (this will take a while...):
Ludwigia Sp. Red
Ludwigia Red Plaustris
Ludwigia Repens x Arcuata
Ludwigia Pink ovalis
Ammania Bonsai (True Rotala indica)
Pogostemon Helferi "Downoi"
Alternanthera Reineckii "Mini"
Alternanthera Reineckii Roseafolia
Alternanthera Reineckii Variegated
Red Melon SwordBacopa Monnieri
Pearlweed - NOT HM (its better and carpets easier)
Crypt Wendtii Brown
Crypt Nurri Pahang Mutated
Hygro Sp. Brown
Windelove Java Fern
Rotala mini butterfly
rotala pearl type 1
dwarf water lettuce
Micranthemum umbrosum "monte carlo"
About 100 shrimp. I bought 5 PFRs from Nick (Speedie), about 7 others from a LFS. Then Supreme Reds from Speedie and NeilSheh as well (about 18). I also picked up a few high grade Sakura Red females at the LFS because of a sales promotion.
I fell in love with planted tanks in March, about 3 months after I started keeping fish. The idea of a vibrant planted tank intrigued me, and after I stumbled upon this website, it was game over. People like Mr. Tom Barr, crazydaz, OVT, hyzer, and many others showed me that you could keep a good amount of plant species in a tank and still make it look good.
Therefore, I spent the most of April and May buying plants from all sorts of sellers and set this tank up on May 18.
I then doubled my co2 by adding another 2 liter reactor and added another 26w CFL. The results were astounding.
The tank now:
Downoi and Blyxa
Monte Carlo carpet - 2 weeks in:
S. Repens and Crypts:
Shrimp on Peacock Moss (mixed with sneaky stem growth)
The whole aquarium rack:
