My skills at aquascaping are essentially nonexistent, but since you brought up the swords, I have to say those were the addition that caused the above post. They completely changed you tank. Not necessarily for the better or worse, but what a difference from before!
In my opinion, they are a little too big and bold. They very much obscure the rear curtain wall of vals. I just don't find them to be all that interesting of plants that they add anything to your layout. And, to risk being really anal, the light green leaves sort of clash with the darker greens and reds in the rest of your plants. I think you could get better light green/yellow accents from your stargrass and other smaller plants, rather than the huge leaves of the swords.
Also, the way the two of them are placed they kind of look like bookends. A fact that is accentuated by the centered pyramidal shape of your log. I think it would look better with only one of them. Not sure which.
And yes, I do rock!
(Honestly - talk about win/win situations. Most of the plants I gave pix had been given to me earlier. Heck, it took me maybe 5 minutes to do some trimming that I needed to do anyhow, and pix even came to my workplace to pick them up. I think any credit goes to this forum for making such contacts possible. Like I said, pay me by growing healthy plants and then at some later date helping out someone else who is starting off in this hobby.
I can easily pull that much material out of my low-tech 30g every couple of weeks. You have NO IDEA what kinda growth you are in for with your set up. It's gonna be fun!)
