It's time for an update!
I received a shipment today which only inlcuded the filter
I was hoping to have the subsrate arrive at the same time but o well... With the filter having arrived I can now begin cutting the glass top that came with tank. As most of you may already know, the glass top doesn't have any opening for a filter, heater, etc.
Being the DYI type, I decided to take on the task of cutting the glass to fit the filter i purchased. **FYI, this is my first attempt ever at cutting glass** Well... after 100 youtube videos later, I finally got the confidence to move ahead with the cutting procedure. Here are the steps i took:
1.) Cut a piece of cardboard to match the exact shape of the glass hood i plan to cut.
2.) I measured the size of the filter and placed markings on the cardboard box. Next, I cut out the measured area and tested whether it fit with filter attached.
3.) Once i had the perfect fit, with a sharpie, I marked the glass and began to cut (Glass Cutter). As you can see, i am no expert as i didn't get the exact cut i wanted but I am satisfied with it so i will keep it. The Last picture is the Final Cut with the filter in place.
