Nano Tank Boat Book Shelf

Figured I would make a journal of a few of my nano's I have set up on a boat book shelf. The boat was only lightly used throughout the years and is an antique thats been in my family for some time now. It only needed minor restoring with all original paint and hardware. Last summer I made shelves for the boats. Here's a few pics: (sorry for bad quality, used a camera phone)

Heres some pics of a similar style boats plan's so you can kinda get the idea of it's original use:

Here's a few shots of the tanks when they were started all around September

Today I redid the top and middle tanks. On the middle tank I took off the old Deep Blue SolarFlare 3W and replaced it with a Fluval 13 Watt compact florescent. I also added an Ista 45g co2 setup. A few new plants were added to the top and bottom as well. Here's a few pics of the bottom tanks updated and the top two after the change:

All tanks share a single air pump and only have air stones in them. As for inhabitants I have a small Marmorkreb temporarily in the top one as it terrorized one of my tanks recently :-(. The middle one I put in two feeder fish that I plan on keeping in there for a week or so to help establish the tank. After which they will become fish food for my congo puffer. The bottom two tanks are dosed on occasion and only have a few Ramshorn snails to help with algae.

I'll be taking updated pics of the tanks every other week or so probably.

Well it's only been 3 days since I set up the "fish" fish bowl and it was already causing problems. The eco-complete substrate was far to coarse to plant carpeting plants. Here's a bunch of pics I took before and after the re-do. I went out today and bought a bag of Activ-Flora. I also fed the feeders to my puffer so knowing I would have an empty bowl picked up an incredible betta. He was at a semi-LFS and is irredescent. His body changes from bright red to peach and his fins go from red to blue to teal as he swims past. Named him Iri short for iridescent.

3 days after planting already huge portions floating.

Tear-down

Re-plant

Added betta

He looks huge in this pick as he at the back of the bowl

I'll be updating this fairly regularly to follow it's progression.
