So, I ended up taking my SpecV down and inheriting a 10 gallon tank from a friend. I'm not particularly fond of the standard size tanks, but I've been wanting to experiment with some different plants and concentrate a little more on dosing and plant growth.
It's basically a medium light setup and I'm going to be dosing macros and Excel. I've got all of the plants separated into small Tupperware containers to keep things nice and manageable and if for some reason I kill one plant type all I have to do is yank the dead plant and replant the container.
Ten gallon tank
Old junky Tetra HOB
ADA/black sand substrate that came out of my Spec
Ludwigia glandulosa (Cylindrica Fruited Ludwigia)
Cladophora Aegagropila (Moss ball)
Vesicularia montagnei (Christmas tree moss)
Marsilea quadrifolia (Water Shamrock)
Hemianthus micranthemoides (Pearl weed)
Hydrocotyle verticillata (Whorled pennywort)
Lenny, the betta. He's a brat.
I'm probably going to take Lenny out and give him a smaller tank of his own. I'd like to have some smaller schooling fish that don't hate me and provide a little more bio load.
I hope this modular approach helps me learn more about the plants themselves. I may even up the lighting and go with c02 if this works out.
