5.5g Grass Tank

This is my first planted tank in a few years, so I decided to set something up with the supplies I already had. I'm going to start the tank emersed to try something I've never done. The tank will be pretty low tech, I'll be running CFL's and add a DIY co2 setup when it's time.

Equipment List:
5.5g glass tank
Zoo Med light fixture with a sylvania micro-mini 23w
Fluval stratum substrate
Zoo Med 501 filter
DIY co2

Plant List: (For Starters)
Eleocharis parvula (dwaft hairgrass)
Staurogyne Repens

Plants are TopFin from Petsmart, I was surprised at the quality. They look way better then I would've thought.

This is a shot of my setup so far, a piece of driftwood I've had for years and stratum for substrate

Looks good so far.

Don't be surprised if you have some die-off with the dwarf hairgrass before new runners start popping up. When I planted my DHG in clumps like yours, there were a bunch of leaves in the clumps that died off, but the ones that stuck around are spreading nicely now.

Same here. Dwarf hairgrass doesn't do well in the beginning and when you trim it, there will be some die off as well. Once it is well established, it should be doing very well.

Now a few days into my dry start and the driftwood is starting to grow a little mold/moss on it. I'm not sure what it is, or if it's something to be worried about.

that looks like normal mold that you'd end up with with soggy driftwood. You can either take it out and scrub it down, or spray a little hydrogen peroxide solution on it (dilute 1 part H2O2 with 4 parts water).
I'd probably just take it out and scrub it with a pot scrubber, though.
